{"id":3144,"date":"2018-08-01T07:57:12","date_gmt":"2018-07-31T21:57:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/yinghuiinternational.com\/?p=3144"},"modified":"2018-08-02T07:57:43","modified_gmt":"2018-08-01T21:57:43","slug":"restart-of-century-zinc-mine-imminent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/yinghuiinternational.com\/index.php\/2018\/08\/01\/restart-of-century-zinc-mine-imminent\/","title":{"rendered":"Restart of Century zinc mine \u2018imminent\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New Century Resources\u00a0is on the verge\u00a0of restarting the Century zinc mine in Queensland after making strong progress in July.<\/p>\n<p>The mine, 250km northwest of Mt Isa, was one of the largest zinc mines in the world during its original operational run from\u00a01999 to 2016, when it was closed by previous owner MMG.<\/p>\n<p>At the height of operations the mine was producing an average of 475,000t of zinc and 50,000t of lead a year. New Century has plans for the mine to become one of the world\u2019s top 10 zinc mines when up and running.<\/p>\n<p>New Century\u00a0stated that mining, processing and port operations teams were now in place, with site activities moved from day shifts to a 24-hour schedule.<\/p>\n<p>In July, the company completed mechanical installation, nearly finished dry commissioning and\u00a0completed dredging at the mouth of the Norman River for shipping routes.<\/p>\n<p>New Century will use the vessel MV Wunma, which\u00a0was also confirmed to be ready for launch last month after testing of engines, generators, bridge equipment, ballast systems and several other necessary areas.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, the company also fully commissioned its pipeline operation\u00a0for the site, a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.australianmining.com.au\/news\/new-century-resources-revamps-304km-pipeline-first-production\/\">304km slurry concentrate pipeline<\/a>\u00a0connecting the mine in Lawn Hill to the project\u2019s port facility at Karumba.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New Century Resources\u00a0is on the verge\u00a0of restarting the Century zinc mine in Queensland after making strong progress in July.
